Like a hook line or something?
Asked Andrea Weißhaar, in our Facebook Group.
Andrea, This is a really good question, and many would be interested in it.
Firstly, lets get on the same page:
The words and lines you first write are a warm up.
won't have to be your beginning in the final poem,
they are only your way of getting going with a draft.
Secondly, grabbing our readers attention
is indeed something to think about.
I have 2 thoughts on that:
First thing I do, is notice which poems grab MY attention, and why.
Then I learn from that, and write in a similarly grabbing way.
Plus, like anything else in life (haha) Google it, Google your question.
For example, a while back, I found a video of a poet
saying that he always mentions an emotion in the first line,
because it appeals to the human soul,
and so it grabs the reader's attention.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a course?
